Welcome to Zellwood Station
Tucked away in the rolling hills just 5 miles Northwest of Apopka on highway 441, Zellwood Station Country Club offers something for everyone…..great greens and hilly terrain. Challenges like two par 4`s that are driveable (264 & 266 yards), prompting “hole-in-one” dreams on a par 4! Or a par 3 that exceeds any on the PGA-TOUR-243 yards. Or holes 12 thru 16 that dogleg around a cavernous dry lake that is dubbed “Crater Junction” – hit this hazard and it is all over! Or the number 1 handicap hole, nicknamed “Train Wreck”. Fun and challenging, once you`ve played the course, you will want to come back and conquer it!
Tips From Chuck McLoone
Becoming a Better Lag Putter
If you have ever played in Florida during the winter time you have realized the grass is a little different then in the summertime. This is because of overseeding. Bermuda grass goes dormant and ryegrass is planted in its place. So how do you adjust to chipping off of ryegrass? The best way to adjust is to take a club with more bounce. So instead of hitting your chip shot with a sand wedge use a gap wedge or pitching wedge. Play the ball back in your stance and strike down firmly. This will enable you to avoid hitting the ball heavy. Be sure to adjust your backswing because you are using a club with less loft, so the ball will roll out more.
